  Brexit and natural health
Five days after 52% of the British population decided that Britain should extricate itself from the EU, our lead story this week includes a summary analysis of what Brexit might mean for natural health, both for consumers and natural product trade stakeholders. In recent days, we’ve had a slew of emails and phone calls including from the media about this. Accordingly, we felt that a statement of our position from as objective a viewpoint as it was possible for us to take, based on current information, was the most useful contribution that we could make at this very early stage of the proceedings.

Become a better fat burner
Our second piece this week pulls together some of the key points from a presentation I made recently at the Elite Sports Performance Expo in London. There’s been a lot of controversy over the high fat low carb (HFLC) diet based on results of different studies. But those who are critical are rarely familiar with how effective this approach can be, coupled with specific eating and training regimes.  While they may have been developed for endurance athletes, they apply equally to the majority of active individuals and of course make use of all the metabolic and physiological apparatus that got our hunter-gatherer ancestors through difficult times when food wasn’t available on every street corner. In the piece, you’ll find an A4 graphic you can download and print out to help keep you on track with our proposed 8-step approach to enhancing metabolic flexibility.

Weekly news roundup
Our weekly natural health news snippets brings you news of glyphosate’s 18-month additional stay in the EU (will the UK fall in line with biotech industry desires following Brexit?), the European Medicines Agency’s possible relocation on the continent given Brexit, Pakistan’s cotton crisis being possibly linked to GMOs – and much more.

Introducing our new team member
Finally, we’d like to introduce you to Charlie Jones, the newest member of our team. Despite only being in his early twenties, Charlie brings with him great graphics, communications and blogging skills, combined with a thorough knowledge of politics and current affairs – and a keen interest in natural health. You’ll find his graphics in each of our two main pieces this week – and once his feet are properly under his desk, you’ll be reading some of his thoughtful content.

In health, naturally,
