  Unruly brains and overweight kids

Fresh back from Florida after the American College of Nutrition meeting on brain health, I now feel a little more prepared for the northern winter. It beggars belief how much is known about how mental health disorders, that now threaten to break healthcare systems around the word, can be remedied through a better understanding of our genes and nutritional status. Yes, you won’t find many areas where there is more convincing evidence of benefit for supplements. Yet only a tiny proportion of doctors and practitioners have the background and training to make a real difference. Find out more.

Last week, Rebecca Pilkington, our outreach officer, represented ANH-Intl on a panel discussing obesity in children. Find out what we believe to be the real triggers to the rapid escalation of childhood obesity and why health authorities and mainstream medicine are barking up the wrong tree. Until we see a sea change in their understanding of the physiological, economic and political mechanisms that drive our current ‘epidemic’, we won’t see a downturn in this completely unnecessary problem that’s akin to a time bomb.

In news this week, you’ll discover why we want to feed a supplement containing a 30mg dose of glyphosate to the EFSA panel who proclaimed glyphosate safe, contrary to the International Agency for Research on Cancer, and why UK GPs may be forced to stop prescribing homeopathic remedies.
