Week No 27 | 03/07/2019

Misunderstood essentials

Controversy and confusion abound in nutritional science. Sitting near the top of the list are vitamin A and fats. The situation is made even more complicated by competing groups of financial and academic interests. One of the reasons that it’s so difficult to resolve these controversies is the uncertainty in the evidence as well as the incredibly varied responses and needs of different populations.

With this backdrop, we bring you two articles this week that attempt to shine a light on these two crucially important, but none the less opaque, subjects.

In other weekly news we alert you to some disease-reducing bacteria in your gut, more nails in the statin coffin as research shows a 2 fold increase in type 2 diabetes risk and how a common ingredient in antibac personal care products may be making women vulnerable to osteoporosis.

Yours in health, naturally
