Week No 37 | 11/09/2019

Trust, food & Internet – discordant or harmonious?

We should celebrate the almost universal consensus amongst the medical community that diets are central to health. Just a few years ago, that notion seemed a far stretch for a profession that was still in bed with the idea that drugs and surgery were our best bets. Now we realise everything we were told about healthcare was really a guise for disease care, and there wasn’t a lot of attention on things that actually created or regenerated health.

This week we dive into two areas that are central to our current health creation revolution. One is food – real food – healthy, nutrient-dense food, something that’s widely referred to in the food industry as ‘clean food’. (At least you could argue that it’s recognised that some of the previous offerings must have been ‘dirty’?) With an upcoming webinar by Food Navigator in which I’m participating, we giving the whole issue of clean food labelling an airing. And hoping you’ll join me on the webinar on 24 September that you can sign up for free of charge.

Our second piece this week is on Big Tech. We look at three areas that are deeply concerning to us, especially given how important the Internet is for communicating about, as well as facilitating health. These areas are the latest round of anti-trust probes in the US, thought control and censorship, and the battles over who and how our health data are managed and accessed.

As always, don’t forget to dip into our weekly news round-up – and please share our stories as widely as you can, in the knowledge that proactive sharing is the best way of countering the throttling we now face courtesy of Big Tech.

In health, naturally and sustainably,
