B12, HRT, cancer and rumours

In an ever more complex world, people, understandably, seem to want everything to be simpler. But, unfortunately, in the field of health that’s rarely possible. The human body is one of the most complex systems we know about, yet no two bodies are the same, the dance between an individual’s genes and years of different environments yielding an incredible diversity of responses. Add to that, different views on how healthcare should be performed, cultural differences, different needs of individuals, a diverse range of competing business interests and politics – simple is often not an option.

Our two lead stories this week delve into two complex areas, both of which are laden with diverse and often conflicting views. The first involves a vitamin we’ve long regarded as one of the safest in the natural medicine cabinet, vitamin B12. Some are suggesting there should now be a question mark over its formerly innocent head regarding cancer. And the other; should women entering menopause largely discount the suggestion made in a newly released Lancet study, that HRT may contribute to increased cancer risk well after hormone replacement therapy stops?

Our latest video release is a more personal share. We can't stop the years racking up, but this is some of the self-care we're engaged in to maintain our vitality and resilience as they do.
